Cape Cod Onion Lantern - interior/exterior hanging light in antique copper, 1 light, clear glass. Size shown: 10-1/2"wide x 17"high. Available in other finishes, sizes and glass. These Onion Lanterns originated in the New England Cape Cod area. The soldered wire guard protected the hand-blown glass from the frequent "NorEaster's" that batter the New England coasts. This hexagonal lantern hangs in the hallways of the historic Ashley House (Circa 1734) in Deerfield, Massachusetts. This unique lantern was imported from England and hung in the elite home of the mid 18th century minister, Johnathan Ashley.
