We love the challenge.
No request surprises us for extra large hanging lanterns for interior or exterior applications. It can be very challenging to fabricate an extremely large lantern, as in the photo, mainly due to structural issues. Custom lanterns require every detail on the lantern to be addressed. Every detail needs to be reconfigured to hold the weight and to hang properly.
- 1” cast-brass square tubing was used for the bail.
- Extra underneath support brackets of cast brass are used so that the weight is distributed properly and the lantern will hang straight.
-The aging process was changed from a dipping process to a hand applied, pouring method.
-A heavy canopy installation system was engineered, 6-1/4”W x 18”Long for the ceiling based on the size and weight of the fixture.
Most lighting manufacturers do not devote a lot of effort into factoring in weight structural issues in the design and production of their product so they choose not to make them. Copper Lantern is willing and able to go the extra mile to make a custom lantern that is right for you.
